St Marks High School offers hostels that are in good conditions to all students who wish to stay in the school during the opening of schools. St Marks has 7 house hostels which house both the girls and boys. All these houses have their facilities, from laundry, common rooms and as toilet facilities. St Marks is all ways in the move to improve and add the number of rooms so to house more students leaving in the school.

Classes

Form 1-2

In their first year (Form 1) students are required to do all the subjects under the Junior Certificate Curriculum and as they progress to the second year (Form 2) they have the right to choose their subjects of choice. Our Classes are divided into four groups, that is the TA, TU, W, BA.

Form 6

The syllabus the school is offering is the Cambridge International Advanced Level Syllabus. This is one of the most recognized university entry qualifications worldwide. The setting and marking of examinations is done in the UK alternative.

  • With a boarding facility which can accommodate 200 students; the hostel environment of St Mark’s High School can be described as a “Home  Away From Home.

     The facilities are warm and welcoming to every student. A home which tends to build a child educationally and among other facilities which are catered for boarding students.

    The school has a fully qualified staff which ensures that students are well taken off while away home.  Personal meals can be prescribed for students who have certain medical conditions to ensure that every student is able to eat a healthy balanced meal on a daily basis.

    A study session is provided on weekly schedule as follow:

  • Monday to Friday :1900hrs – 2100hrs
  • Saturday : 0900hrs – 1100hrs
  • Sunday : 1830hrs – 0800hrs
  • In entertaining the students on weekends; the school normally organizes sporting bonanza with other boarding schools in Swaziland.  Furthermore; students are able to request permission to do some shopping in town which may include the purchasing of toiletries.

Sports Centre

Participation in sport is compulsory once per week, throughout the year but periods can be shorten to have sufficient training for the whole week if necessary.

St Mark’s offers a wide variety of sporting activities.  Team sports include:

  • athletics
  • basketball
  • cricket
  • netball
  • soccer
  • volleyball
  • tennis
  • ballroom dancing
  • choral
  • a wide range of indoor games.

For inter-house sports and games, pupils and teachers are members of one of the three houses:  Taylor (TA), Tugman (TU) and Watts (W). These houses compete academically as well. Exception is made during the examination period, but our children are encouraged to keep active, even during this period.
